What an off-grid stay here actually feels like.
Cabo House is solar-powered and built for a slower, more intentional stay. You have full kitchen, hot water, Wi-Fi, AC, fans, and comfortable beds — but resources are finite, the road is real, and the village is small. Plan a little, conserve a little, and the tradeoff pays for itself fast.
Solar, with thought.
The property runs on solar. Most days, that powers everything you actually need — lights, fans, fridge, kitchen appliances, AC during sensible hours, and devices. On cloudy stretches or with heavy AC use, consumption can outpace generation. Run AC for sleeping, not all day. Charge phones and laptops during sun hours.
Available, not urban.
Wi-Fi is available at the property and an Ethernet connection is listed. Speeds can vary in a remote off-grid location. Email, light browsing, music streaming, and most video calls work; heavy uploads, 4K video, and large downloads are not the point of being here. If your work absolutely depends on bandwidth, plan accordingly.
Treat it like a finite resource.
Hot water is available, including for the outdoor shower. Water in Cabo Pulmo is delivered and stored on-site, so short showers, full dishwasher-loads, and not leaving taps running go a long way. Drink bottled water — most guests buy a multi-gallon jug on the grocery run in.
AC, fans, and shade.
AC, ceiling fans, and portable fans are all on-site. Most of the year, opening windows during cooler hours and running fans is enough. Save AC for the hottest part of the day and for sleeping. There is no central heating listed; in cooler months, a light layer inside is plenty.
What to bring.
- Reef-safe sunscreen (mineral, oxybenzone-free)
- Hat and sunglasses
- Light layers — desert nights can cool
- Swimsuit
- Flashlight or headlamp
- Reusable water bottle
- Cash (pesos and small bills)
- Beach shoes / sandals
- Bug spray (seasonal)
- Downloaded offline maps and directions
- Reading material
Be honest with yourself.
- · 24/7 mall-grade Wi-Fi speeds
- · Streaming-TV evenings
- · Hotel-style daily housekeeping (cleaning during stay is available — not constant)
- · In-house laundry
- · Last-minute grocery runs without a real drive
- · Curbside ride-share or quick delivery
If any of these are non-negotiable for you, Cabo Pulmo is probably not the right fit — and we’d rather be straight about that now than have a rough stay.
Is Cabo House a fit for you?
If most of these sound like you, yes:
- · I want quiet over nightlife
- · I’m comfortable driving a dirt road in daylight
- · I’m happy to plan a grocery run
- · I like cooking and outdoor meals
- · I’ll trade urban convenience for landscape
- · I’ll respect a protected reef and desert
- · I’ll conserve power and water
- · I don’t need a TV in the evenings
If that sounds like your kind of trip.
